SPRING BREAK

I had really been looking forward to spring break this year. It was a week later than most other school districts and we had fun things planned. The weather looked to be excellent, so things were going to be perfect.

I've learned my lesson.

Never plan on perfection.

I thought it would be fun to take the kids to do something different each day of spring break. We would start with going ice skating with the cousins at the awesome rink not too far away. All the kids love to ice skate. Perfect.

The next day, bowling was in the plans. Reserve a couple lanes. Have bumpers on one of them. Rent shoes. Perfect.

Monday would be reserved for swimming. I have four fish in the water thanks to red cross swimming lessons. We also have a family pass at the local pool. Perfect.

Tuesday would be going out to eat at the restaurant of choice--the local greasy spoon we love so much. I can taste the picadilly fries now. Perfect.

Did I mention that one must never make perfect plans?

I woke up on Friday morning to something I haven't had since 1st grade.....

PINK EYE!

I immediately lined up the children and inspected. Samuel also had pink eye. So, it was off to the doctor's office.

For us.

For drops.

The kids did make it to the rink with the cousins while I stayed away from all bystanders.

Saturday, Shenna woke up with the pink plague.

Sunday was Kiera's turn.

Monday and Tuesday were spent putting eyedrops into

eight different eyes.

Four times a day.

Not exactly what I had planned for our perfect spring break.

The Greatest SNOW on Earth!

Last week Aaron and I got a sad email from Brother Scholes at "Snow's" Institute of Religion. The church has changed its policies on institute choirs, so the LD Singers -an institute sponsered show choir - will be drastically changed come next year. I was in this show choir when I attended Snow many years ago. Aaron was also in the group. I've had 5 neices and nephews in the group as well (the last is currently in it).

Before this email, we were thinking about going to the spring concert to see Lyssa perform.

After the email, we knew we had BETTER go and see the concert, since it was to be the last one.

We got the kids out of school early on Friday and headed to Sanpete County.

Our first order of business was showing the kids all the old haunts......half of which are now just spots of ground since the buildings have been torn down to make room for bigger and better facilities.

The weather was cooperative for April. It was mainly jacket weather while we were walking around, and the sun was shining. I'm just glad it wasn't raining!

Of course we had to go to the bookstore and spend lots of money
so the kids could show off their BADGER pride!
Kiera and Enoch both got t-shirts.
Shenna bought a jacket with her own money.
Samuel just had to have a Snow College football.


Basically I can say that life has come full circle. In contemplating my time at Snow College and my time in LD Singers, I realized that my niece Lyssa wasn't even born when I was there! Now here she is performing with the same group that I was in so many years ago.
Congratulations Lyssa and LD Singers on a great concert and a finale on so many years!

6th Grade Science Fair

I know many a parent who dreads the two words "science fair". However, I certainly haven't been one of them this year. Kiera and her lab partner, Kiarra did a great job on their project. First, they came up with their project all on their own.

They organized it all.

Delegated the work between themselves.

Planned ahead.

Conducted the experiment.

Put together their data.

Made their display.

Presented it to the public.

And the best part?

They did it all without help from me!

Oh, and by the way, it was the best in the class!

April Fools!

Mother Nature played a fun April fools prank on us this morning!
