Olympics End

With the Vancouver Olympic games coming to a close, so is our fantasy olympics. The standings are as follows:
Samuel GOLD MEDAL (Aaron and I have decided that we need to take him to the racetracks. We couldn't believe his luck in picking the winning athletes).

Shenna SILVER MEDAL and

Aaron the BRONZE.

Enoch came in a close fourth, with

Kiera and me in a battle for 5th,,,,she won.

I didn't have much luck this time. The kids even started feeling sorry for me and began cheering for the athletes I picked, even if they were competing against some of their own.

My luck was just the opposite of Samuel.

The perfect example was when I picked Lindsey Vonn to win. She fell.

Who was Samuel's athlete in the same race?

Maria Riesch. She won gold.

Boy, did that kid know how to pick them. His total score?

39

My total score?

6.

Enough said. Mom's humiliation is complete.

Winter Olympics 2010!

Keeping with the tradition set back in 1984 -for Joan anyway- we held our family olympic party.

Shenna and Kiera made our traditional cake of the world; which, of course, was devoured before the athletes even entered the stadium.

Every time the olympics roll around, we have a great geography lesson. This year, we just used a small map and Samuel and Enoch helped me put a pin on each country as the athletes came into the stadium. I've decided that for the summer games in London in 2012, we will definitely have a much larger map. Though most of the pins we used were clear ones, you can see that the entire continent of Europe is completely covered!

We also picked our countries and athletes for our FANTASY OLYMPIC GAMES! So far, Aaron is the only one with any points, but the rest of us are going to give him a run for his money. It will be fun to find out who wins the ultimate prize at the end. We love winter sports!
