A Wisconsin Wedding in Winter

So, the maternal grandfather was born and grew-up in a tiny place.
Morgan Township, Oconto County, Wisconsin.
Parents were German Immigrants.
Farmers.
Hard-workers.
Grandpa was the only one of the many children that left the area really.
The oldest brother, Albert inherited the farm.
Raised his family there.
My mom used to go and visit her cousins every summer on the farm.
My grandpa E.B. Wahl with older brothers Albert and William
Fast forward a generation or two and we still have cousins in the same place.
When Laura announced her engagement,
Lynae and I decided it would be the perfect time to plan another trip.

We must be insane for deciding to go to Wisconsin in January!
We flew into Milwaukee and then rented a car to drive up to the Wahl place in Morgan.
Lynae -of course- did all the driving.

Of course we had to go shopping and the closest place to do that would be Green Bay.
And, I couldn't be in Green Bay without paying homage to the
GREEN BAY PACKERS!

Temp. 2 degrees.  No gloves, no hat.  Frozen.

The wedding day was perfect.  Laura looked gorgeous!
It was great to meet her husband, Kurt.

The reception was wonderful.
Good food.
Good music.
Dancing (really missed Aaron)
and best of all great company!

Me -of course- Andy and Lynae taking a selfie at the reception

Verine Wahl and her friend Alex.  And our wonderful hosts for our time there.

Lynae and the beautiful bride, Laura.

I couldn't leave without getting a picture of me by the Wahl Lane sign.
For 130-140 years, my family has been living right here in Morgan.
I'm so glad I had the chance to visit again.

One of these things....

One of these things is not like the others
One of these things just isn't the same...
Can you guess which one is doing his own thing?
Now it's time to play our game!

Random Christmas Happenings

Enoch's Fifth Grade put on a Christmas Concert.  I was able to go to the dress rehearsal on Thursday and see them practice.  He lucked out and got to stand by his friends, Hunter and Corbin.

Aaron's family got together at his brother's house for a Christmas party.
I made the brothers behave for a picture.  The only way it could have been better was if his sister Suzanne could have made it down from Oregon.

Traditional Christmas Eve game of Christmas Bingo!

A little too much fun being had with some of the bingo presents.  Grandma got a hat and Enoch picked out stick-on mustaches that he generously shared with his siblings.

River was just happy to be inside for the festivities.  Grandma sure has him spoiled!

Hanging up the stockings.  I need to make sure to take this picture just the same next year.
Who wants to wager that Sam may be as tall as Kiera by then???

This may be Aaron's favorite Christmas present of the year.  I just HAD to buy it for him.
