Blue and Gold 2012

One of the Wolf requirements that Enoch needed to complete involved starting a collection (if you haven't already), display it in a creative way, and tell someone about it. We decided to display Enoch's extensive soccer jersey collection at our pack's recent BLUE and GOLD Banquet.    We had jungle animals model them and I printed out the labels for each jersey. 

The best part was when Enoch got up in front of the whole crowd to talk about his collection.  He was so confident, articulate and knowledgeable!  So many people came up and complimented him afterwards.  I just wish my video camera had been with me.

 

After completing that last requirement, Enoch was awarded his Wolf Badge!  Hooray!

 And as is tradition in our pack, he got stamped with a paw print on his face! 

It's A Wizard's World

For the last month - and don't forget practices before that - Samuel and Kiera have been in "The Wizard of Oz" at the local theatre in the round. They had a fun time, but they both are glad it is over. Samuel was a City Father in Munchkinland and Kiera's main part was that of one of the talking trees.

Her other part was that of a munchkin.  What you ask?  How is that possible?  They needed a few more bodies to fill in space during the Munchkinland scene, so a few other -and taller kids got to play the parts of some munchkins.  They made sure that they were sitting down most of the time and that they kept their distance from Dorothy so that the audience wouldn't notice how tall they are. We lovingly referred to her as a munchkin on steriods.

March 17 brings Shenanigans

I'm not sure why we can't seem to keep leprechauns out of our house in the wee hours of St. Patrick's Day morning.  We woke up bright and early and noticed some shenanigans done by those mischevious little people!

The leprechauns had turned our table upside down with the tablecloth and plant still on it.

We had green eggs and french toast with green sprinkles

Guess what we have here?  GREEN EGGS AND SAM!

Luckily for us, the leprechauns always leave us some nice green treats for us.  This year we even got some silly socks!

Let the Fun Begin!

Samuel has been really working hard since he turned 11 and joined the scout troop.  At the last Court of Honor he earned his Tenderfoot rank.  He also earned his first merit badge - Citizenship in the World.

Unfortunately for him, the Court of Honor was held on the same night as one of the last play practices for the latest Old Barn Theatre Play.  He was disappointed that he couldn't get his scout awards that night, but here he is showing them off later.
