The ancient Persians painted eggs for their New Year's celebration which just happened to coincide with the spring equinox. Maybe this is where the painting of easter eggs started. My kids don't care about the origins, they just do it because it is fun! Usually, we start coloring our easter eggs on Saturday afternoon after all the housework has been done. It is certainly a much-anticipated Whitaker family tradition

Shenna and Kiera weren't exactly thrilled that I took their pictures, but they'll forgive me eventually.

Enoch and Samuel were all business when it came to achieving the perfect color for their eggs. This is not for the light-hearted. Fairness is a must when dying easter eggs. In our family, each person can color eight eggs on their own. This is a very serious process.
Well, Aaron seems to forget that we don't do this for the fun and games....we are following the ancient ways of our Persian ancestors! (wait, I don't think we have Persian ancestors. Why are we doing this again?)
Enoch is displaying one dozen of the final results. Now to just wait until the Easter Bunny comes and hides them. I just hope that they all will be found!
